The Red-Legged Seriema is found throughout much of central and eastern South America, including southern Brazil, most of Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. It frequents grasslands, as it hates wet and humid locations, which is why it will go as far as a riverbank, but not into any marshlands or wetter fields. Sometimes its founded in grassy semi-arid wooded areas with lots of scrub-bush. Just think of those parking lots in front of fields that have that thin asthma-inducing dirt as the ground in the summer.
